2023 iQFOiL & iQFOiL Youth and Junior Asian Championships (8-14/11/2023)

Hong Kong windsurfing team has won 3 youth and junior categories at the iQFOiL & iQFOiL Youth and Junior Asian Championships in Dameisha, Shenzhen.

Defending champion Cheng Ching Yin finished 13th on the first 5 days of the Men’s division, missing out the Medal Races, while two other Hong Kong athletes, Au Ling Yeung and Rafeek Kikabhoy, were ranked 16th and 20th respectively. In the Women’s Division, defending champion Ma Kwan Ching finished 4th in the quarter final of the Medal Races and was ranked 7th overall, while the top three places were taken up by Chinese players.

In the U19 Youth Group, Asgar Kakabhoy and Choy Wing Tung defended Boys’ and Girls’ categories respectively. The former fought off Hong Kong teammate Chow Wai Hin Wayne to cross the line first in the final of the Medal Races, while Choy and teammates Fung Yuk Kiu Yukie and Chan Wing Yu shared the top three places. Hong Kong wingsurfing team won 3 championships, 2 first runner up and 3 second runner up in the total 6 categories. Also, 13 members of the Development Squad were selected through the Outstanding Members Incentive Awards Scheme to participate in the U15 Junior Competition to gain practical experience.
